The Library at Blickling Hall is recognised as one of the most important in the country. Many of the rare volumes are considered almost priceless. Like so many historic houses, a constant battle is to hand in preserving both fabric and contents. In the case of the books, both damp and beetle are an ever present threat. In her painting, Annette has introduced a pair of white mice using her artistic license – whilst there are no such creatures to be found in The Long Gallery (The Library) the intention is to draw attention to the fragility of the collection.
