BANANA GRABBED IN HOLT!

Archive Reference Only

Even before The Red Dot’s exhibition for the 2014 HOLT FESTIVAL opened, one keen collector has grabbed the £55.00 banana. This makes it the most expensive soft fruit ever sold in Holt ‘historians’ say.

The banana, strategically placed in front of the BERYL COOK image ‘Ladies Night’ is the creation of ceramicists Lorraine Taylor & Nicky Smart, other examples of their work include apples, pears and artichokes which can all be seen in The Red Dot. ‘Its a shame they don’t make coconuts, a bunch would have been perfect’ said Gallery Owner Colin Rawlings.

Beryl Cook, Silkscreen Edition, The Red Dot Gallery

Ladies Night – Silkscreen
Edition by Beryl Cook O.B.E.

BERYL COOK O.B.E (1926 – 2008) was, still is, one of Britain’s most popular artists. Her style is distinctive, instantly recognisable with her bold characters wryly observed. They are full of innuendo, fun and naughtiness. ‘They actually do still cheer people up and I’m awfully pleased about that’ – Beryl Cook.

The Gallery will be showing a collection of Originals & Signed Limited Editions throughout the Holt Festival and to the end of July. Come along and have a titter or two.
