Michelle Draycott

By her own admission Michelle Draycott ‘came to sewing quite late’ this, following her earlier career in graphic design and illustration.
The urge to make three dimensional pieces was a conscious move from ‘the limitations of the flat screen’
Whilst her first experimental textile pieces did not exactly please, using her drawing skills Michelle quickly learned to make paper templates and in doing so proportion and form were realised.
Now, that was some time ago for the works Michelle now shows with The Red Dot Gallery convey total confidence and command of her chosen direction. Not only is each piece exhibited exquisitely made and finished, every one has a charm and personality all of its own be it a hare as a queen or her suitor, a cat offering Tudor sweetmeats or a fortune told and now a terrier masquerading a court jester.
The gallery is delighted to be showing this artist’s work in the knowledge that every piece is truly unique.
