Emily Carew Woodard is a British artist and illustrator based in London. Raised on the Fowey Estuary in Cornwall, her atmospheric oil paintings are inspired by British folklore, ghost stories, the natural world and the maritime landscape of her childhood.
Populated by anthropomorphic animals, her richly detailed paintings explore friendship, solitude, resilience and hope, often with an undercurrent of humour and the strange or unexpected. Each work invites the viewer into an imagined world where stories gradually reveal themselves.
Emily studied Illustration at the London College of Communication and has since worked with a range of international clients. Her fine art has been exhibited in the UK and the United States and is collected worldwide.
