Nigel Hemming (b. 1957) grew up in the rural location of Kinver, Staffordshire. The countryside around him was the influence upon the early subject matter of his paintings; birds, landscape and animals both domestic and wild.
Since the age of 21, Nigel’s career has been that of professional artist. In the early years he accepted many and varied commissions but it became apparent that his rapport with canine subjects resulted in paintings that captured more than a meticulous impression but also conveyed the true ‘personality’ of the dog observed.
‘I try to paint pictures, not simply of dogs, but about dogs’
Nigel’s work has been widely published in books and magazines as well as on cards, calendars and as limited edition prints. In 1996 he was named ‘Published Artist of The Year’ by The Fine Art Trade Guild.
